Solsis ‘clothing for the soul’ emerged about 3 years ago by an ambitious artist and clothing designer by the name of Stephanie Engel. Receiving a BA in Fine Art, focusing her study in sculpture, after college, Stephanie decided to start her own line of clothing. In the midst of starting her own line, she assisted an independent LA based designer, and worked on the BCBG design team. Solsis draws inspiration from Stephanie’s many passions in life such as travel, vibrant cultures, soulful music, bronze sculpture, brazilian dance, surfing, and yoga. Her focus is to cloth the body in motion while maintaining a radiant, unique, funky look, keeping true to quality and artistry. Solsis has exhibited her clothes at numerous fashion events around California such as Thread Fashion and Lifestyle Show, The Fashion Co-op, Appel and Frank, San Francisco Fashion Week, Create Fixate and many other unique art and fashion shows around LA and SF. She auditioned for Project Runway and was a semi-finalist for season 5.
Stephanie’s goal is to create conscious fashion that speaks from her soul. A company that promotes political and environmental consciousness, being sweatshop-free, utilizing sustainable fabrics, while maintaining style and beauty.
